Anglers, like many other nature lovers, are interested in a variety of animals. Naturally, they favour fish, in particular indigenous cold water species as well as tropical fish. The tropical / ornamental species are often kept / displayed in an aquarium. It is an interesting hobby that does not require a great deal of space and can prove exceptionally relaxing. It is a lot of fun creating an underwater world and selecting from the wide variety of fish available. The air in the room is also improved.
Many predator anglers own an aquarium, some being of substantial volume. They use these to keep bait fish. Whether keeping ornamental fish or bait fish, to ensure their health and survival, the correct equipment is needed: filter, pump and CO2 regulator amongst others.
In order to provide anglers with the necessary equipment, Askari decided to offer a fine selection of quality aquarium and garden pond items. The products have been tested over time and are matched to needs, such as tank size and species. As always, we are pleased to offer these items at affordable prices.
The Askari programme includes external and internal filters in a variety of sizes and power settings. The filter is an essential item of equipment to ensure the survival of your fish. Filtering the water keeps it clean and removes any pollutants that may effect the quality of the water.
Air pumps and water pumps provide for adequate water circulation and help maintain CO2 levels.
Further important accessories include a heating element to maintain water temperature and a thermometer to control the temperature. Ornamental fish, dependant on species, should be kept in water with a temperature between 22-28 degrees.
The Askari programme also contains specialised equipment, such as automatic feeders and net breeding traps.
Many newcomers want to know how much time they need to invest in setting up and maintaining an aquarium. Setting up an aquarium can take a bit of time, dependant on the size. A great deal of pleasure can be taken in creating an underwater world selecting plants, rocks and roots. The amount of time needed to maintain an aquarium is limited. The water should be partially changed (roughly one third) every 2 weeks and the filter should be changed every 3-4 months. It is better to do small regular cleaning tasks as opposed to putting it off and doing a 'big clean.'
If you are considering starting out in the wonderful world of fish keeping, it is advisable to look in the Internet or books for information and the odd trick or two.
Enjoy yourself, whether pursuing the angling sport or creating your own underwater world.
